Curriculum: Group Art classes have a drawing/sketching based curriculum with various drawing and painting mediums to keep lessons fun. Drawing is an important foundation to be successful in any art medium. Various drawing and painting mediums will be used including charcoal, graphite, watercolor, pastel, ink, acrylic, and printmaking. Kids art classes will also have sculpture. Students explore sketching & drawing techniques that support successful composition, proportions, likeness to subject, creating depth, lighting, perspective, brainstorming ideas, and creativity to make it unique. In my art retreats, travel sketching is typically taught with bonus lessons specific to the trip and where in the world it is located.

 Nicole's Philosophy:

I believe in patiently supporting each student to grow and develop their artistic voice through traditional and contemporary techniques. I teach these techniques through hands on demonstration, observation of real life, showing examples of completed art, and offering images. I encourage creative thought and critical thinking. I believe it is important to work right next to students to help each student individually see how and why certain techniques are important in completing a great piece of art. In doing this, it is my hope that each student will then have the confidence, desire, and ability be able to use these techniques to produce a piece of art that is unique anytime, not just in class. I have found students advance in skill and are much more proud of their work when taught in this manner.

"I had a very nice learning experience with Nicole for the last few months. She is very talented and versatile artist. I learned a lot of new techniques, media and styles of drawing from her. She makes learning very enjoyable and relaxing at her studio which is located in the most beautiful surroundings."

~Jennifer
