Teen and Adult Drawing Set:

Micro eraser & refills

By far my favorite eraser. This is a pencil tip thin eraser to get into all those little details. Great for teens and adults.

Mechanical pencil: Staedtler Mars micro .7mm + refills

High quality mechanical pencil with refills. Feels good in the hand and draws with precise line.

Pentel White Polymer Eraser

Great long-lasting basic eraser that does not produce a lot of crumbs or smudges.

Set of 6 Derwent Graphic Pencils, Includes Tin & Sharpener

I love this brand of graphite pencil. The leads stay sharp longer, cleaner, and has consistent shading. A bit more expensive, but well worth it. It is good to have a range of H and B pencils. This is a good set. I would recommend getting a metal sharpener as shown below however. The plastic ones do not sharpen as well or precise.

Pigma Micron pens .25, .35, .45

High quality permanent ink pens for drawing. This pack has 3 sizes which is nice for various line weights.

Drawing eraser pad

This is also excellent in keeping clean art. Sometimes the area around the image can have smudges from graphite, making it look dirty. This little bag f eraser will clean up your paper without leaving eraser lines through the thin graphite layer.

Drafting shield

Great little drafting tool that works well for drawing and keeping things clean. If you draw a bit outside the area you want to draw in and an eraser will take away some of the drawing or if you shade in an eye all the way and forget to leave that little bit white, this is great at cleaning up those little spots without erasing areas you want to leave untouched.

Staedtler Metal Sharpener

High quality. Sharpens very precise and has a hole for colored pencil(larger hole) and one for graphite(smaller hole). Small to tuck in pencil bags. Some people do not like that it doesn't have a container to catch the shavings. if this is important to you, the same company carries this with a tub and only a dollar more. I prefer the small size for easier traveling.

Drafting brush

This is essential to create clean art. as you erase and brush your hand across the paper, the oils in your hand can smudge the graphite. Use a brush to sweep away the crumbs leaving clean paper.

Teen and Adult Travel Watercolor Painting Set:

no-leak travel watercolor box(really Hicreat fly fishing box!)

I love this box for using my watercolors on the go. It is the perfect size to hold enough colors, but still able to hold it easily in the hand and stick in your pocket or bag. Also, it will not leak all over your bag when you travel. Hands down the best find for travel watercolors. squeeze your favorite tub paint in and go!

Daniel Smith Watercolor Starter Set

My favorite watercolor brand. Daniel Smith professional tube watercolors are by far the best quality and have some very innovative types from granulated colors to metallic colors and of course standard stains and dyes. This is a good starter set with a good range of colors. You can also buy single tubes to get the exact pallet you want.

Pentel Arts Aquash Watercolor Brush

Love this brush! It is perfect for travel sketching or if you are too lazy to grab a bowl of water. This does not leak like a lot of brands and it lets out the perfect amount of water as you paint. Many brands I've tried will let out blobs of water or not enough.

Kids Art Set:

Prang Watercolor paint Cakes 16 colors

Tube watercolors can be expensive, so if you are starting out, on a budget or are buying for a child, this is the best pan watercolors. Very vibrant colors and somewhat soft so you can get excellent saturation. When you run out of a color, you can buy just the refill so it is less wasteful then some brands as well.

Pentel White Polymer Eraser

Great long-lasting basic eraser that does not produce a lot of crumbs or smudges.

Other fun items: scissors, markers, glue stick, colored pencils

Extras:

Lightbox tracer

I use a light box to transfer my drawings to high quality watercolor paper for the final illustration. I find it essential in my work. Mine is about 25 years old, big and bulky. They still sell it, but it is over $100 so you probably wouldn't want mine. I have not used this particular box, but it looks amazing and a decent price. If Mine ever wears out, I will try this.

Color correcting table top task light by Daylight Co.

It is really important to create your finished art with good lighting, not only for your eyes, but for getting the color accurate. This task light is just for lighting your work spot, easing your eyes, and color correction.

Watercolor brush starter set: Princeton Select 1/2" mop brush, #8 round, 1/4" angular shader

These are good brushes that are an excellent quality to start with and then experiment with other sizes and shapes. there are so many brushes you can have a lot of fun experimenting!

Golden Acrylic Paints

These paints are the best quality and comes in student, and professional grades to fit your skill level and budget better. The student grade just has more filler in them. The more professional the grade, the more stiff and saturated the color.
