My Philosophy
Art is more then copying a picture or another person's idea. Art is about exploring and experimenting with one's individual ideas, creativity, interests, and style. Art is emotion. Art is a narrative. I support my students in a patient and calm manner. We have fun while traditional and contemporary drawing and painting techniques are learned, explored and perfected. My goal is to help you learn to naturally observe the world around you. See the lighting, perspective, proportions, changes with seasons, anatomy, and so much more. Then transpose that skill into art you are proud of. I strive to help you grow as an artist no matter the age or ability. The idea is to actually learn and grow. I do not touch up student's work and do not expect all students to end up with the same cookie cutter art. Creativity is encouraged.
My students include the beginner to the more sophisticated artist who wants to grow.
I teach the young child, teen, adults and elders.
Classes are held in my studio, on-line, Bellevue College, Bellevue Botanical Gardens,
Britney Park, King County Library, Woodin Creek and on Art and Yoga Retreats around the world.

Global Retreats

Create art with friends and family for a fun experience! Minutes from downtown Woodinville you can relax under the cool forest canopy and in the sunlit gardens to draw and paint easy and fun art. Great for beginners and the more skilled. Friends, family and solo artists will enjoy. Sketch and paint the natural world with this 1 hour, special, relaxing experience. Each class will kick off with a new inspirational prompt and techniques demoed to help you draw and paint trees, flowers, water, plants, fungi and animals. Each day is different All materials are provided. While you are at the studio, walk the forest trail and visit the goats and chickens! Each class time has 6 spots available for a community class or reserve all the spots for your private group.

2025 Art Camps
Registration opens 2/01/2025 6:00am
Get the kids outside to experience art in nature under the cool forest canopy! Campers will draw live animals and plants such as goats, chickens, reptiles, horses and bunnies. They will also create sculptures, build forts and explore painting and printmaking. Registration goes live Feb 1st at 6am. These camps fill fast so there is a waitlist when full.
