The secret to create art that resonates with a viewer, is to really sit with your subject. If you are painting the forest, sit in the forest. Observe the way the light changes throughout the day. Find the time of day that the forest glows almost with magic. How the light filters down through the branches and bounces off the moss below. Now close your eyes. How does the forest sound? What do you hear, does the sound come from high in the canopy or low along the forest floor. Now take a deep breath. What do you smell in the forest? How does it make you feel? Why do you think it smells the way it does, where is it coming from? The dirt, plants, mushrooms, decaying leaves or trees? Let these experience show through your art. This is what the viewer will feel with your art and why it will be special.
